Mid-Week Update

Sunday

The group got on their way without a hitch on Sunday morning. While everyone was a bit sleepy, we were able to get all the tools, gear and last minute perishable food items loaded and on the way. Special thanks to the "Departure Team" who helped load vans, check in participants and take photos. Charlotte, you did a great job to rally the volunteers make posters and send the kids off with a prayer! Anita, thanks so much for taking the pictures!!

Mike called me on Sunday evening. The whole group arrived safely and set up camp. They were very excited to get started on Monday morning!

Tuesday

Mike called on Tuesday night. All is going well on every site. The foundation is poured and the framing (woodpeckers) have built walls and roof. Everyone on the Mission is safe, happy and having a great time.

Welcome to the Mission Mexico Blog! By the time you read this we will have likely come and gone on the Mission and are left with our thoughts , images and impressions. Take the time to consider sharing these with the world in the hopes that YOUR works could be the Change of Heart for someone else.

As leader of Mission Mexico, I am honored and privileged to be in this position this year. From this side of the Mission, I am truly awe inspired at the generosity of the participant, congregation and community gifts of time, talent and treasure. YOU are the reason Mission Mexico is successful.

Let me share what our version of Successful is for this Mission.
Our Mission is to provide:
- Safety for ALL participants as the first priority
- The 8th grade confirmation class with the opportunity to profoundly impact a community south of the United States border.
- Opportunities to develop leaders for future mission trips in both spiritual and technical leadership.- Quality shelters to families/communities in need.
- Participants the opportunity to advance their faith journeys with God.
- Fellowship in the Body of Christ that will transcend the mission trip and into other service events.

Our Vision: 7 Years from now, July 2012
- Over 95% of the confirmands participate in the mission trip and report a positive experience leading to additional service project involvement.
- Each year at least 2 additional site leaders are developed with excellent spiritual and technical leadership.
- MVLC has assisted an additional 50 families with shelter including 2 churches and a school.
- MVLC has become a model for the community, assisting 3 other churches to start their own “Mission Mexico” program.
- All participants have reported growth in their faith before, during and after the event.
- MVLC will be known for their “low ecological footprint” by reducing the GHA (global hectares) from 9.5 (US average) to 4 during the trip.
- No significant injuries/events since the start of the mission.

Thanks for "listening" as I BLOG on. I truly believe Mission Mexico, "Builds Faith, One house at a Time"

God's peace,
Mike
